General Description of the Town of Brighton The Town of Brighton is located in Northwestern Kenosha County, Wisconsin. It is bounded on the north by the Town of Dover on the West by the Towns of Wheatland and Burlington. On the South it is bounded by the Town of Salem (including the Village of Paddock Lake), on the East it is bounded by the Town of Paris. The Town of Brighton is approximately 35 miles from Milwaukee and approximately6 miles from the Illinois/Wisconsin state border. The Town of Brighton is dominated by gently rolling farmland. The Town has within its boundaries two major recreational areas in Bong State Recreational Area and Brighton Dale County Park and 45 hole Golf Course.The principle industry in the Town is agriculture.

The Town of Brighton does not maintain a public works department. All public works projects are contracted out. Capital projects and public works projects are recorded and approved through the annual budget for the town. Police, Fire and Rescue
Rescue squad services (emergency medical services) are provided to the Town of Brighton by the Town of Salem Fire/Rescue Department and Silver Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad. Police services are provided through the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. Fire protection is provided by the Town of Salem Fire/Rescue Department and Kansasville Volunteer Fire Department. All such services can be reached by dialing 911 Garbage and Solid Waste Management
The Town of Brighton currently does not provide curbside garbage collection. The Town contracts with a solid waste collector to provide a garbage truck every Saturday between 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon . There is also a recycling bin available during those same hours for all Brighton residents. The truck and recycling bin are located at the Town Hall parking lot, 25000 Burlington Road (1/4 mile west of St. Hwy 75 on the north side of St. Hwy 142) Residents wishing to use these facilities must have a “dump tag” issued by the clerk. There is no fee for the tag, just bring proof of residency to the clerk’s office. Certain items are prohibited from being collected at the Town Hall site and must be brought to Pheasant Run located on the north side of CTK “K” (60th Street) east of St. Hwy 45 Phone: 262-857-7956 (any fees charged by Pheasant Run are the property owner’s sole responsibility) Items prohibited at the Brighton site include: Batteries, tires, waste oil, paint (unless completely dry), brush, grass, leaves, lawn clippings, animal carcasses, appliances, and large furniture. Recyclable items include:aluminum, all glass, plastic marked 1 or 2, bi-metal containers (tin cans), cardboard and newspaper. Newspaper should be bagged and may be placed in the wooden shed located on site. Twice a year, Waste Management, Inc. sponsors a Household Hazardous Waste Collection. Dates vary, but are generally held in May and September. One collection is at the Kenosha County Center on the northeast corner of Hwys 45 and 50 and the other is at the Pleasant Prairie Municipal Center on the west side of Hwy 31 just south of 85th Street. Contact Pheasant Run for more information. Residents may contract privately with a company of their choice for curbside pick up, all fees are the property owner’s sole responsibility.

A small portion of the Town of Brighton falls within the Wheatland School District and also the Union Grove High School District. All schools provide bus transportation for in district students. Town Administration
The Town of Brighton is governed by a Town Board comprised of a Chairman, two Supervisors and a Clerk-Treasurer. All are elected to terms lasting two years. In addition to the Town Board, the Town of Brighton has a seven member Plan Commission appointed by the Town Chairman.
