TOWN OF BRIGHTON—TAX COLLECTION HOURS:


Monday, Wednesday and Friday 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M.

(Same as regular town hall hours)

(receipts not returned without a self-addressed, stamped envelop) The 1st installment of real estate taxes (total amount of personal property taxes) is due Jan. 31, 2009.  Tax payments received by mail must be post marked by Jan. 31, 2009.  New "grace period" rule: Tax payments will be accepted up to 5 business days after Jan. 31 (for 2009 that date is February 6th).  IMPORTANT!!!!! The "grace period" rule requires that payments be PHYSICALLY IN THE MUNICIPAL TREASURER'S OFFICE by the close of that business day.  ITEMS POSTMARKED FEB. 1-6, BUT NOT RECEIVED BY MUNICIPAL TREASURER WILL BE CONSIDERED DELINQUENT!!! Late payments must be paid directly to the Kenosha County Treasurer.  Note: the installment option is forfeited and full amount due with an interest penalty if no payment is made by the end of the "grace period".The second installment or balance of the tax bill is due by July 31, 2009, to the Kenosha County Treasurer, 1010 56th Street, Kenosha, WI 53140 or pay in person at the Kenosha County Center on the corner of Highways 45 and 50.

***IMPORTANT***
Please check your tax bill over closely.  It should include a lottery & gaming credit if you own the property and it was your primary residence as of January 1, 2008.  Notify the Clerk if it is missing.
